Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a GI/Endoscopy role in California. You must hold a CA RN license, a BSN, and have outpatient endoscopy experience gained in a teaching hospital setting.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a GI/Endoscopy position requiring a CA RN license, BSN, and prior outpatient endoscopy experience at a teaching hospital setting.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of submission
• BSN required
• Current ACLS and AHA BLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Outpatient endoscopy experience required
• Pre/post procedure experience required
• Inpatient experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history
• Prior travel experience within the last 12 months required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Two professional references from most recent employer required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in an outpatient endoscopy center with pre/post procedure and inpatient settings
• Day shift schedule, 8-hour shifts with variable start times (7:00-15:30 or 9:30-18:00), 5 days per week
• Ability to float to other facilities within a 75+ mile radius as needed
• Performs procedures including colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, bronchoscopy, and esophageal varices and banding
• Provides post-procedure care including recovery from conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care
• Administers conscious sedation and manages airway during procedures
• Uses equipment including balloon dilators, forceps, polyp snares, lithotripters, and bronchoscopy supplies
• Administers medications including opioid analgesics, reversal agents, and Versed
• Performs pre-procedure tasks including 12 lead EKG/ECG and IV starts
• Epic charting system experience required
• Care for patients undergoing GI/endoscopy procedures in outpatient, pre/post procedure, and inpatient settings
• Teaching hospital environment
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• ERCP skills preferred
• Proof of COVID vaccination and booster required, or proof of scheduled booster appointment prior to start date
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
• Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed, including dates, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
• All requested time off must be disclosed at time of submission and approved by the manager prior to offer
• No time off requests accepted once the contract has started
• Time off cannot be scheduled within the first two weeks of the assignment
