Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Wisconsin. This 12-hour night shift (1900–0730) offers a 36-hour work week in a Level IV Trauma Center with a primary stroke designation, and includes CNA support and 24/7 hospitalist coverage.

You must hold an active WI or compact RN license, BLS/ACLS/NIHSS/TNCC/PALS, ED procedures, and Epic EMR experience; 2+ years in ED, plus references. Local candidates welcome; free onsite parking.

Qualifications

  • Active WI or compact RN license required.
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, and de-escalation training (MOAB or CPI).
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience.
  • Proficiency in ED skills including chest tubes, IV starts, drips, phlebotomy, EKGs, and rhythm interpretation.
  • Epic EMR experience required.
  • DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required; middle name/initial required.
  • At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor/Manager/Director/Charge RN.

Responsibilities

  • 12-bed ED with triage, often utilizing hallway beds.
  • Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center with 69 beds.
  • Patient population neonates to geriatrics with various acute illnesses.
  • Patient ratios typically 1:5, sometimes 1:6 based on acuity.
  • 12-hour night shift (19:00–07:30), 36 hours per week.
  • Weekend rotation every third weekend.
  • Holiday coverage as needed.
  • No on-call or call-back requirements; no floating.
  • CNA support 1:12 and in-house RT and hospitalist coverage 24/7.
  • No dedicated phlebotomy team; ED RNs perform bedside phlebotomy.
  • Lead RN serves as unit resource rather than charge nurse.
  • Uses Epic EMR, GE monitors, Alaris pumps, Pyxis system.
  • One shift of orientation provided to learn unit flow.
  • Provide emergency care to neonates–geriatrics.
  • Scrub color is flexible; free onsite parking; no radius restriction; local candidates accepted.
  • First-time travelers considered; former employees separated 12 months before eligibility.
