Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department travel position in New York. The role requires a NY RN license and Level III Trauma Center experience, with 2+ years in ED and current certifications (ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC).

CPI and TCAR are preferred. EPIC and Pyxis familiarity are expected; SBAR communication is used. The position involves night shifts (19:00–07:00), 36–48 hour weeks, 1:5 patient ratios, and every-other weekend.

• Floating across units
• Document with EPIC; Pyxis for meds; SBAR for communication
• 24 hour unit orientation provided
• Care for adult and pediatric patients with multisystem dysfunction
• Residence >75 miles from facility required for travel position
• Limit: >10 days off at time of consideration
• 6 months since last assignment to be eligible for return

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level III Trauma Center experience and a NY RN license.

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC
• CPI and TCAR certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience required
• Required experience in a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
• Level I and Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
• 1:5 patient ratio experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, central line care, phlebotomy, IV starts, blood product administration, continuous IV sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Experience managing CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and ortho-trauma patients
• Experience treating gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Experience with abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia, infections, mental/behavioral health conditions, respiratory infections, seizures, and urinary tract infections
• Skilled in identifying and reporting abuse or neglect

Responsibilities

• General Emergency Department treating combined adult/pediatric patients in a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-07:00, scheduled as 36 or 48 hour weeks
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Every other weekend required (2 weekends per 4 week schedule)
• Floating required
• Uses EPIC for documentation, Pyxis for medication, and SBAR for communication
• 24 hour unit orientation provided
• Provide emergency care for a combined adult and pediatric patient population with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel position
• Cannot have more than 10 days of requested time off (RTO) at time of consideration
• Previous staff must have at least 6 months since their last assignment system-wide to be eligible for return
• First time travelers are welcome to apply
