Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position in California. The role requires CA licensure, 2 years of ED experience, and Epic proficiency.

The ED offers a 34-bed unit with Level 3 STEMI and stroke receiving capabilities, 4:1 patient ratio, and night shifts (3x12 hours, 18:00–06:30). Candidates must meet extensive certification and background checks.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required.
• PALS required; ENPC accepted in lieu of PALS.
• NIHSS certification required.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• 7-year work history verification required.
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required.

Responsibilities

• 34-bed general acute care Emergency Department treating patients of all ages and diagnoses.
• Level 3 STEMI and stroke receiving center with no trauma designation.
• 4:1 patient ratio.
• Cares for both medical/surgical boarder patients and ED patients.
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:00 to 06:30.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Responsible for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care including direct patient care, patient/family education, and care transitions.
• Delivers holistic, individualized care across a wide range of ED conditions including pediatrics, trauma, psychiatric, respiratory, and neurological cases.
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation, and dysrhythmia management.
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius.
• Returning staff/travelers must have a 1-year separation before returning.
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract.
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
• First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience.
