Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Night Shift RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center in California. Valid CA RN license and acute care experience are required, with multiple certifications important for consideration.

Responsibilities include care for adult and pediatric trauma patients across multiple ED pods during 19:00–07:00 shifts, on a 13-week assignment. Magnet facility and Epic EMR experience preferred, with generous housing allowances and travel reimbursements

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required.
• BSN, CPI, or MAB certification preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of acute care RN experience required.
• Level I Trauma Center experience required.
• Level II Trauma Center experience preferred.
• Teaching hospital experience preferred.
• First-time travelers considered only with 2 or more years of ER experience.
• Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs and IV therapy/phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

• Level I Trauma Center with adult and pediatric trauma, homeless, high volume psych, sepsis, and stroke patients.
• 30% admission rate with neo/peds volume of about 1000 visits per month and 18-20% peds admission rate.
• Unit areas include Fast Track/Rapid Care, OBS Holding (30-40 patients), Pod A MS Tele Psych Holding, Pod B, Pod C, Pod D, and ED-ICU.
• Travelers care for up to 20 hallway patients in a designated MS Tele area.
• Travelers may care for patients with PCA pumps, though staff manage the pumps directly.
• No traveler responsibility for intake/triage, resuscitation room, peds, or triage duties.
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00.
• 13-week assignment length.
• Magnet-designated facility.
• Epic EMR experience preferred.
• Provide emergency nursing care across multiple unit pods and specialty areas within the ED.
• RTO must be disclosed and finalized prior to interview, with no changes accepted after submission.
• First-time travelers welcome to apply if they meet the 2+ years of ER experience requirement.
• Compliance documents must be completed by facility deadlines to maintain start date.
• Orientation modules must be completed prior to start date.
• Previous UC Davis employees must be noted at time of consideration.
