Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position in North Carolina. RN licensed (NC or compact) with at least 2 years ER experience is required. First-time travelers welcome to apply, with Epic EMR experience preferred and certifications up-to-date.

The role supports night shifts (3x12s, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM), 1:5 patient ratio, and requires flexibility to float to Cone Health campuses as needed. Comprehensive benefits and travel housing allowances are provided.

Qualifications

• Active NC or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years RN ER experience
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience in teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, or Trauma Level I/II settings preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilated patient care
• Experience administering continuous IV sedation, vasopressors, and procedural sedation
• Neurological care experience including CVA, ICP monitoring, and spinal cord/traumatic brain injury
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and EKG testing
• Experience with triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and orthopedic trauma care

Responsibilities

• General Emergency Department treating combined adult/pediatric patients
• 1:5 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required (must work 2 of 4 holidays)
• Floating required to any Cone Health campus as needed
• STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
• Treats trauma cases including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and traumatic brain injuries
• Epic EMR used
• Provide emergency care across a wide range of adult and pediatric trauma, cardiac, neurological, and orthopedic cases
• Must pass a pass/fail EKG compliance exam with up to two attempts allowed
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local rates apply
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
