Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Night shift Emergency Department position in Johnson County, KS. Requires at least 1 year of recent ED experience and KS or Compact RN licensure, with certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and Conscious Sedation.

• Manage patient load with 3:1 (4:1 when needed) ratios; no floating off unit.

• Comfortable handling inpatient boarders and adaptable to rapidly changing conditions

Responsibilities

• 29-bed Emergency Department serving the southern half of Johnson County
• Designated chest pain and primary stroke center with daily volumes around 120 patients
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30, 3 shifts per week
• Weekend requirement of up to 3 weekend nights (Fri/Sat/Sun) per pay period
• No floating out of the unit, though caring for some inpatient boarders is required
• No on‑call requirements
• Patient ratios of 3:1, or 4:1 if needed
• Self‑motivated, team‑oriented candidates with a positive attitude are encouraged to apply
• Required to work on Christmas Eve or Day and New Year's Eve or Day based on unit needs
• Facility is a nicotine‑free campus
• Local and travel candidates accepted at the same bill rate
