Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an Emergency Department RN with an active IL license and at least 1 year of ED experience for a night shift travel assignment.

The 13-week assignment runs nights 19:00–07:00 (3x12s) with weekend coverage; patient care from neonates to geriatrics using Pyxis, MediTech and Vocera.

BLS, ACLS and PALS are required; NIHSS and TNCC preferred. Local candidates may be paid at the same rate; pay breakdown includes lodging, meals and stipends; start date Sep 28, 2026.

Qualifications

  • Active IL RN license is required.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required; NIHSS and TNCC preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year ED experience; combined adult/pediatric ED experience preferred.
  • MediTech charting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency nursing care across pediatric to geriatric patients in the ED.
  • Perform phlebotomy, IV starts, central line care and blood product administration.
  • Administer continuous IV sedation and vasopressors and manage procedural sedation.
  • Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias and ABGs; ensure PPE/isolation precautions.

Description

  • Patient population spans neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Handles all standard ED presentations and diagnoses
  • Uses Pyxis medication system, MediTech documentation, and Vocera communication system
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license required

  • Experience in a combined adult/pediatric ED setting
  • Skilled in phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, central line care/management, and blood product administration
  • Skilled in continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
  • Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and interpretation of ABGs
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE
  • MediTech charting system experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency nursing care across the full patient age spectrum, addressing conditions such as CVA, ortho-trauma, head injury, and near drowning
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Maximum of 5 days RTO
  • First-time travelers welcome to apply
  • No prior travel nursing experience required
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
