Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level II Trauma Center in Wisconsin. The candidate will bring 2+ years of adult and pediatric ER experience, with Epic proficiency and trauma certifications. This is a travel assignment with 3x12 shifts, evenings, and weekend/holiday coverage.

Requirements include valid WI or Compact RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC, and recent ED work. Prior travel experience six months+ preferred.

Qualifications

• Active WI or Compact RN license
• BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC certifications current
• 2+ years ED experience in adult and pediatric
• Epic EMR experience within past 12 months preferred
• Travel assignment 6+ months or more required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in a combined adult/pediatric general Emergency Department
• Level II Trauma Center experience preferred to support trauma cases
• Evening shifts, 3x12 hours (1050–2330 or 1500–0330)
• Schedule includes weekends and holidays
• Floating as needed to other areas
• Provide emergency care across a wide range of conditions
• Administer emergency medications including vasopressors and sedation
• Perform orthopedic interventions and trauma management
• Assist with intubation and ventilator management
• Reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Holiday coverage required
• Work at UW Health facilities
• Free onsite parking

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN with 2+ years of adult/pediatric ER experience, Epic proficiency, and trauma certifications for a Level II Trauma Center.

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA only), and TNCC
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience with adult and pediatric populations within the last 3 years
• Epic EMR experience required, within past 12 months preferred
• Must successfully pass a pre-start Telemetry exam covering adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation
• At least one prior travel assignment of six months or more required, extensions highly preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, and multisystem organ dysfunction management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Proficiency in IV therapy including arterial lines, central lines, and blood product administration
• Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, and assisting with intubation
• Skilled in psychiatric emergency care including acute psychosis, overdose, and suicidal patients
• Experience with neurological emergencies including CVA, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury
• Knowledge of isolation precautions, PPE, and triage protocols

• Schedule includes weekends and holidays
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide emergency care across a wide range of conditions including pediatric illness, trauma, respiratory distress, and psychiatric emergencies
• Administer emergency medications including vasopressors, continuous sedation, and procedural sedation
• Perform orthopedic interventions such as splinting and ortho trauma management
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Holiday coverage required
