American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Emergency DepartmentRN for a travel assignment in Virginia. The nurse must hold an active VA or compact license and have at least 2 years of ER experience.

The position is at a Level II Trauma Center with STEMI/Stroke certification. Night shifts are 3x12 or 4x12, with every other weekend and a 60-mile residency requirement. First-time travelers are welcomed.

• Provide cardiac monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a compact or VA license and a minimum of 2 years of ER experience.

Requirements

• Active compact or VA RN license required in hand
• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, PALS
• Preferred certifications: NIHSS, TNCC
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience in teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II settings preferred
• Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, and shock/trauma management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Experience with respiratory care including intubation assistance, BiPAP/CPAP, and ventilator management preferred
• Experience with IV therapy including central lines, arterial lines, and blood product administration preferred
• Experience managing psychiatric and behavioral health patients, including suicidal and violent patients
• Experience with pediatric emergency conditions such as asthma, seizures, and abdominal pain
• Experience splinting and managing orthopedic trauma preferred

Responsibilities

• General Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric populations
• Level II Trauma Center that is also STEMI and Stroke certified
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12, with every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Floating may be required in rotation with staff, consistent with clinical experience and unit policies
• Cerner/Oracle Health charting experience preferred but not required
• Responsibilities include triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction
• Biweekly orientation held on Mondays with 8-10 hours of required training modules
• Must reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility
• Local candidates are not accepted
• Scrubs are not provided
• Nicotine-free campus
• First-time travelers are accepted
• RTO must be approved prior to assignment start, with none preferred during the first weeks
• Some holiday coverage required in rotation with staff
• Former Centra employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
