Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an Emergency Department RN for a Level IV trauma facility in Texas. Requires TX or compact RN license and 2 years ED experience. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required; TNCC preferred but not required.

The 13-week assignment includes a 5-bed ED, 16-bed Med/Surg, and 2-bed IMC. Night shift is 18:45–07:15 with every other weekend and on-call shifts; Navy blue scrubs are required. First-time travelers welcome to apply.

Qualifications

  • Active TX or compact RN license required.
  • 2 years of ED experience required.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
  • TNCC preferred but not required.
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.

Responsibilities

  • 13-week assignment in a 5-bed Emergency Department within a Level IV Trauma Facility.
  • Facility also includes a 16-bed Med/Surg Unit and 2-bed IMC.
  • Night shift schedule from 18:45-07:15.
  • Every other weekend required.
  • On-call required for 3 shifts per 6 weeks.
  • Treats adult and pediatric patients with acute injuries and life-threatening conditions.
  • Typical staffing includes 2 RNs with a mid-shift LVN or RN on most days.
  • Provide direct nursing care in accordance with policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans while coordinating care across disciplines.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
  • Patients requiring higher levels of care are stabilized and transferred to network hospitals for specialty services.
  • Navy blue scrubs or scrub jacket required.
  • Radius rule applies, allowing local candidates at a reduced rate.

Requirements
  • Active TX or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • TNCC preferred but not required
  • Current license and primary source verification (Nursys) required within 30 days prior to start
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment
  • Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment skills required
