Job summary

American Traveler, LLC is seeking an experienced ER RN for a night shift position at a Level III trauma teaching hospital in North Carolina. A minimum of 3 years ER experience and Epic proficiency are required.

Requirements include an active NC or Compact RN license (no pending licenses), BLS/ACLS/PALS/NIHSS, and travel experience. The role features a 3x12 schedule, 1:4 patient load, and on-site work with Epic EMR documentation.

• Pre-start modules and compliance exams, including Advanced EKG.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a night shift position at a Level III trauma teaching hospital, requiring 3 years of ER experience and Epic proficiency.

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required (pending license not accepted)
• Minimum 3 years of ER experience required
• BLS, ACLS, CPI, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required
• NRP and TNCC certifications preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior travel experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and blood product administration
• Experience managing psychiatric, overdose, and suicidal patients
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
• Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure patients preferred
• Arterial line management experience preferred
• Charge RN experience preferred
• No background or license actions within the past 12 months
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Combined Adult/Pediatric Emergency Department setting
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Every other weekend required
• Float required between both campuses as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR used for charting
• Located within a Level III Trauma Center and teaching hospital with 733 staffed beds
• Scrub color requirement: royal blue and white
• Holiday coverage required (one major holiday may be requested off)
• Maximum of 4 days RTO permitted
• Candidates must pass an Advanced EKG exam as part of compliance
• Pre-start modules required, estimated 4-10 hours to complete
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the main campus are not eligible
• Former employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Night shift travelers may extend contracts up to two times before a required 6-month break
• System has a 2-contract limit with one allowed extension before a required 6-month break
