Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN with at least 2 years of emergency department experience for a short term acute care hospital setting requiring SC or Compact RN licensure. The role includes 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend, and potential 3x12s, with travel specifics and housing considerations.

Active license in SC or Compact required, with certifications (ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS) and preferred TNCC/CPI.

Qualifications

• Active SC or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start.
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required.
• Previous charge nurse experience required.
• AHA-issued certifications only.
• SSN required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• General Emergency Department nursing care for adult and pediatric patients.
• Patient ratios around 1:4, may flex to 1:5.
• Day shift 4x12s (8a-8p or 9a-9p) with possible 3x12s.
• Every other weekend participation; no on-call requirements.
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs and sister facilities.
• Use Epic charting system for documentation.
• Manage ED care in a short term acute care hospital with 97 beds.
• Conduct triage for adult and pediatric patients.
• Attend training modules and staff meetings as required.
• Prioritize non-local candidates and hurricane season assignments.

Responsibilities

• General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patient population
• Patient ratios of 1:4, may flex to 1:5
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours (8a-8p or 9a-9p), with consideration for 3x12s
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs and between sister facilities
• Uses Epic charting system
• Short term acute care hospital with 97 staffed beds
• Provide emergency department nursing care including triage for adult and pediatric patients
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Must complete all assigned training modules prior to start date, with access typically provided the Wednesday before start
• Attendance at staff meetings required
• Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for approval consideration
• Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis at a reduced rate
• Must reside outside a 60-mile radius to be prioritized; non-local candidates are given priority
• During hurricane season (June through November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
