Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with at least 2 years of ER experience and Epic proficiency for a night shift assignment in South Carolina.

Work in a 75-bed ED serving adults and children in a non-trauma setting, with a 1:4 patient ratio. The role involves 3x12-hour night shifts (7p-7a), weekend/holiday coverage, and potential float between Downtown and Northeast campuses using Epic EMR.

Qualifications

• Active SC RN license or Compact license in hand prior to start
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
• BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Experience interpreting ABGs
• Experience administering continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressors
• Experience caring for CVA, neuro-trauma, and spinal cord injury patients
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Triage and isolation precautions/PPE
• Social Security Number required for consideration

Responsibilities

• May float between Downtown and Northeast campuses based on census and staffing needs
• Uses Epic EMR

• Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of acute and trauma-related presentations including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, head injuries, and near-drowning cases
• Royal blue scrubs required for the ER unit
• Must reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility for the standard travel pay rate; local candidates may be considered at a reduced rate
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the required ER experience
• All requested time off must be submitted with the application and is subject to facility approval
• During hurricane season (June through November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
• Completion of pre-start facility modules is required, averaging about 4 hours
