Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Travel RN for an Emergency Department role requiring PA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ED experience. The ED features 18 treatment rooms, private rooms, a trauma room, and Fast Track for lower-acuity patients.

The role includes 24/7 ED care by a multidisciplinary team; shifts are 3x12, evenings or nights, with every other weekend/holiday rotation. Benefits, travel reimbursements, and housing options are provided.

Qualifications

  • Active PA RN license or Compact RN license is required.
  • Minimum 2 years recent Emergency Department experience.
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS.
  • TNCC certification preferred; CPI/de-escalation training preferred.
  • Strong IV insertion and critical assessment skills.
  • Experience caring for pediatric and adult ED patients preferred.
  • Documents all patient care in the electronic medical record.

Responsibilities

  • Operate in a community hospital ED with 18 treatment rooms.
  • Provide 24/7 ED care with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Care for medical, surgical, cardiac, neurologic, respiratory, orthopedic emergencies.
  • Perform rapid assessment and triage of ED patients.
  • Administer meds, IV therapy, blood products per orders.
  • Assist with cardiac, stroke, sepsis, trauma, and respiratory emergencies.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment, and discharge.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, therapists, and labs.
  • Occasional travel nursing experience preferred but not required.
  • Evening (3x12) or Night (3x12) shifts; every other weekend/holiday rotation.

  • 24/7 emergency care provided by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and ancillary staff
  • Cares for medical, surgical, cardiac, neurologic, respiratory, orthopedic, and trauma emergencies
  • Evening (3x12, 15:00-3:00) or Night (3x12, 19:00-7:00) shifts
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
  • No block scheduling
  • Perform rapid assessment and triage of emergency patients
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and emergency interventions per physician orders and hospital protocols
  • Assist with cardiac emergencies, stroke response, sepsis management, trauma stabilization, and respiratory emergencies
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, radiology, laboratory, and ancillary staff
  • Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and patient safety initiatives
  • Community hospital ED experience preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required
  • First-time travelers may be considered
