Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a General Emergency Department role serving both adult and pediatric patients. The position features day shifts (7:00–19:00) on a 3x12 schedule and requires ED triage experience, a compact or MD RN license, and Cerner EMR proficiency.

Qualified candidates will have at least 2 years of ED experience, recent travel nursing background, and certifications (ACLS/BLS/NIHSS/PALS). Flu vaccine is required.

Qualifications

  • Active compact or MD RN license required.
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ED experience.
  • Must have worked within the past 8 months in an ED with at least 45,600 visits/year (125/day).
  • Triage experience required.
  • Cerner EMR experience required.
  • Prior travel nursing assignment required.
  • Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients preferred.
  • Community hospital experience preferred.
  • Previous charge experience preferred.
  • Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients.
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:00.
  • Cerner EMR experience required.
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required.
  • Float within skillset required.
  • Performs cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
  • Responsible for triage, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and isolation precautions/PPE.
  • Provides emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population.
  • Responsible for starting and maintaining IVs and performing phlebotomy.
  • Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility.
  • Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate.
  • Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler.
  • No more than 7 days RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment.
  • First-time travelers are not eligible; prior travel assignment experience required.
