Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Travel RN for the Emergency Department in Anniston, Alabama. The role requires at least one year of ER experience, an active AL or compact RN license, and AHA BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications.

You will join a high-acuity, fast-paced ED with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio and three 12-hour night shifts per week. Local candidates within the area are welcome, with travel stipends and local pay adjustments reflected in the posted rates.

Qualifications

  • Active AL or compact RN license required.
  • Minimum one year of ED experience required.
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS via AHA.
  • Fit test required.
  • CPI and TNCC certifications preferred.
  • Experience with blood product administration, central line care/management, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration required.
  • Skilled in identifying and reporting pediatric abuse/neglect.
  • Experience with pediatric emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a high acuity, high volume ED (Adult/Peds).
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4.
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, 3x12 hrs.
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required.
  • 30-minute uninterrupted lunch break required.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift position requiring at least one year of recent ER experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in a high acuity, high volume combined Adult/Pediatric General Emergency Department
  • Patient population includes neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • 30-minute uninterrupted lunch break required with no skipped meals
Requirements
  • Active AL or compact RN license required
  • Minimum one year of recent Emergency Department experience required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS via AHA
  • Fit test required
  • CPI and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Experience with blood product administration, central line care/management, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration required
  • Skilled in identifying and reporting pediatric abuse/neglect
  • Experience managing pediatric near-drowning, respiratory infections, and seizures required
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency care across a wide range of patient acuities and age groups in a Level III Trauma hospital setting
  • Manage high-acuity cases including shock/trauma, gunshot wounds, and traumatic amputations
  • Utilize isolation precautions and PPE, and perform triage duties
  • Care for pediatric patients presenting with conditions such as asthma, epiglottitis, burns, sickle cell crisis, and mental/behavioral health conditions
  • Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius, with local candidates paid at a lower rate
  • Requested time off (RTO) limited to a maximum of 7 days
  • Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel assignment
  • First-time travelers may be considered
