Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Cath Lab to independently scrub cath lab cases with recent scrub experience and an active MD/Compact RN license. This role is based in Bel Air, MD and involves travel-friendly assignments.

You will scrub cath lab cases in a Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab, work shifts 3x12 or 4x10, and be on-call with weekend and holiday coverage. CPI-compliant facilities and travel reimbursements are part of the package.

Qualifications

• Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of submission.
• BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• ARRT-R and/or RCIS certification accepted.
• Minimum 1 year of recent cath lab scrub experience required.
• Must scrub cath lab cases independently.
• Experience with PCI/PTCA and diagnostic/left-right heart caths.
• Knowledge of PPE and isolation precautions; CPI certification required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab.
• Scrub cases independently; no monitoring or circulating duties.
• Shift options: 3x12 or 4x10 day shifts; on-call required.
• On-call and weekend coverage as scheduled; travel and floating involved.
• Prepare equipment, maintain sterile field, and perform room circulator duties as needed.
• Travelers prioritized for floating within scope; first-time travelers considered.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Cath Lab to independently scrub cath lab cases, requiring recent cath lab scrub experience and an active MD or Compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA only)
• ARRT-R and/or RCIS certification accepted
• Minimum 1 year of recent, strong cath lab experience required
• Must have strong ability to independently scrub cath lab cases
• Experience with cardiac cath lab procedures including PCI, PTCA, diagnostic and left/right heart catheterizations, IABP placement/removal, stent placement, and rotablator atherectomy
• Skilled in recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
• CPI certification required for most units (Calm Every Storm online version currently accepted)

Responsibilities

• Work in a Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab
• Role focuses on scrubbing cases independently, not monitoring or circulating duties
• Shift options include 3x12 (06:30-19:00) or 4x10 (07:00-17:30) Day shifts
• On-call required, approximately 8 weeknights and 4 weekend 24-hour shifts per 6-week schedule
• Weekend shifts required, inclusive of on-call scheduling (4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule)
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled, including as part of on-call rotation
• Floating required within specialty/department as needed within scope
• Responsibilities include equipment set up, maintaining a sterile field while scrubbing, and room circulator duties as needed
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments within scope
• First-time cath lab travelers will be considered
• Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility unless otherwise specified
• Returning staff must have a 12-month break from the health system before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the system before reapplying
• Most contracts allow one extension, after which a 6-month break is required before returning to the facility or unit
• RTO requests are limited to a maximum of 7 days, with additional scheduling rules for consecutive days off
• Holiday RTO typically allows for one major holiday off during the winter season
