Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Case Management RN for an acute care hospital in Alaska. Requires an active Alaska RN license, Epic EMR experience, and at least 1 year of case management in an acute care setting.

The role includes day shifts (4x10 or 5x8), no on-call, and weekend work. Magnet-designated Level II Trauma hospital with comprehensive benefits and travel housing support.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required; ACM-RN preferred
• Minimum 1 year of case management experience
• Epic EMR experience required
• Acute care experience required
• Community hospital and LTAC experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Experience with admission criteria, care coordination, continued stay reviews, discharge planning, needs assessment, and plan of care
• Familiarity with CMS, HIPAA guidelines, and Joint Commission/Core Measures
• Experience with appeals, denials, pre-cert review, prior authorizations, InterQual criteria, Milliman guidelines, and worker's comp case management preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Assess medical necessity per evidence-based guidelines and coordinate discharge planning
• Manage admission criteria, care coordination, and continued stay reviews
• Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and workflow
• Provide care coordination across the hospital and Magnet-designated Level II trauma center
• Support holiday coverage and weekend rotations as required
• Floats within scope to meet facility needs
• Communicate prioritization and utilization review outcomes
• Maintain compliance with CMS, HIPAA, and Joint Commission guidelines

Responsibilities

• Acute hospital Case Management/Utilization Review department
• Day shift schedule, either 4x10 or 5x8 hours with start times varying between 0700-0830
• No on-call responsibilities
• Weekend work required, either every other weekend or 4 weekend days within a 4-week schedule
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma acute care hospital recognized as a top hospital in Alaska
• Responsibilities include determining medical necessity per evidence-based guidelines, discharge planning, and care coordination
• Scrubs are provided
• Free parking available
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Only one time-off request of 5 days or less permitted per 13-week assignment; no holiday time off approved
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the same health system
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including dates and locations, if applicable
