American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring CVICU experience and NextStage CVVH machine proficiency at a Magnet-designated Level I trauma teaching hospital.

Requirements
  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in CVICU specialty required
  • CVICU experience required
  • Experience and knowledge of the NextStage CVVH machine required
  • Epic charting experience required, preferably within the past 12 months
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area experience preferred
  • Prior travel experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, HFNC, ABG interpretation, suctioning, and ventilator management
  • Cardiovascular skills required include CVP monitoring, CABG care, epicardial pacing wire management, post cardiac surgery care, pre/post cardiac cath care, Swan-Ganz monitoring, and sheath removal
  • Renal skills required include chronic/acute renal failure management and CVVHD/CRRT
  • Medication management skills required include continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Cardiac monitoring skills required include dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction management, and 12 lead EKG/ECG acquisition
  • Additional required skills include infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, and IV insulin protocols
Additional Information
  • Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting the assignment, including adult and pediatric rhythm identification requirements
  • Up to three attempts permitted for the telemetry exam, with a cardiac interpretation review course certificate required after a second failed attempt
  • Located at University Hospital in Madison, WI, a Magnet-designated facility ranked Wisconsin's #1 hospital
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, fresh tracheostomy care, Impella, IABP, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD management, ICP monitoring, post craniotomy/neurosurgery management, CVA/acute stroke management, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, and continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade administration
