Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU in Austin, TX. The role requires cardiac surgery and advanced heart failure expertise with a TX license or compact RN license.

You will work in a 28-bed CVICU, caring for high-risk cardiac surgery patients, including transplants and advanced device therapy. Night shifts 18:45-07:15, 36 hours/week, 13-week assignment with potential MICU/SICU floating.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required.
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA).
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
• Preferred experience with cardiac advanced device therapy (IABP, Impella, Swan-Ganz).
• Nursys license verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Must provide a US SSN and US home address for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality direct patient care as an RN.
• Implement and monitor individualized patient care plans and adjust treatment as needed.
• Administer physician and nursing orders promptly while maintaining regulatory compliance.
• Lead discharge planning with the interdisciplinary team for safe patient transitions.
• Navy scrubs color is required.
• Radius rule applies for local candidates.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring cardiac surgery and advanced heart failure expertise with a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 28-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) within a hospital setting
• Patient population is 80% cardiac surgery and 20% advanced heart failure
• Care for high-risk cardiac surgery patients including open heart recovery, heart transplants, LVAD implants, ECMO, Impella, IABP, and CRRT patients
• Manage Swan Ganz catheters and CCO monitoring
• Uses Cerner/COMPASS EMR
• Night shift schedule from 18:45-07:15
• Floating required to MICU/SICU/Medical or Cardiac Stepdown Units as needed

Requirements
