Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking an experienced registered nurse for an 8- to 13-week contract in Danbury, CT. The role focuses on delivering comprehensive, age-specific nursing care using the nursing process and coordinating with physicians and the health team.

Responsibilities include physiologic and psychosocial assessments, care planning, implementation, evaluation and discharge planning, with strong leadership, clinical judgment and documentation across the unit.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Associate’s Degree in Nursing, required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, preferred.
• Minimum 1-2 years of professional nursing experience in the related specialty.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State and/or Connecticut, required.
• BLS required, plus specialized certifications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the patient’s physiologic health status and coordinates care with physicians and the care team.
• Assesses psychosocial health status and identifies patient education needs and support resources.
• Identifies patient outcome criteria and develops individualized goals.
• Formulates and prioritizes the plan of care, coordinating supplies, equipment and medications.
• Implements the plan of care and reassesses patient needs, ensuring safety and effectiveness.
• Evaluates care outcomes and documents results for performance improvement.
• Collaborates with the care team and delegates assignments as appropriate.
• Performs grade I-IV Decubitus care and skin assessments.
• Administers medications correctly and safely, documenting actions.
• Participates in patient and family education and discharge planning.
• Performs related duties as required.
