Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a Level I trauma teaching hospital requiring adult critical care and emergency department experience.

Details

• Acute care Level I trauma teaching hospital setting
• Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (1800-0630)
• Every other weekend required
• On-call required as needed for the department
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Uses airway management devices including ET tubes, tracheostomy, and oral/nasal airways
• Performs suctioning, extubation, and intubation assist
• Utilizes nebulizer therapy including hand held, T-piece, and trach collar methods
• Administers oxygen therapy via bag and mask, ET tube, HFNC, T-piece, trach collar, and venturi masks
• Manages ventilators including BiPAP, CPAP, alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• BLS and RRT certification required
• Active Illinois license required at time of application, if applicable
• Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted

Additional Information

• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO ideally no more than 5 days
• Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Any solid color scrubs accepted
• Parking permit required, provided at no cost, completed during orientation
