Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of adult critical care and emergency department experience for a night shift position at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital.

Details

• Respiratory therapy unit within an acute care hospital
• Adult critical care and emergency department patient population
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (1800-0630)
• Every other weekend required
• On-call required as needed for the department
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
• Cerner EMR used for charting

Requirements

• Active Illinois license required at time of application if applicable
• BLS and RRT certification required
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department work setting experience required
• Airway management skills required: endotracheal tube/suctioning, extubation, intubation assist, nasal and oral airway placement/suctioning, sputum specimen collection, tracheostomy care/suctioning
• Nebulizer skills required: hand held, T-piece, trach collar
• Oxygen therapy skills required: bag and mask, ET tube, HFNC, T-piece, trach collar, Venturi masks
• Ventilator management skills required: BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Cerner charting experience required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Level I/II trauma experience preferred
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care and airway management for critically ill adult patients in critical care and emergency settings
• Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
• Scrubs may be any solid color
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO should ideally be no more than 5 days
• Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
• Parking permit required, provided at no cost during orientation
