Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift travel assignment supporting adult, pediatric, and neonatal critical care.

Requirements include RRT license if applicable, ACLS/BLS, and PALS; NRP preferred. Night shifts are three 12-hour blocks (6:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.) with travel experience and Meditech familiarity valued.

Qualifications

• RRT license required if applicable.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required.
• PALS certification required.
• NRP certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience required.
• Previous travel assignment experience required.
• Meditech charting experience highly preferred.
• Experience with ventilator management including CPAP, BiPAP, SIMV, and IMV.
• Experience with arterial blood gas interpretation.
• Experience with airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning.
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment including Bubble CPAP and high flow nasal cannula.
• Experience administering respiratory medications via nebulizer and MDI.

Responsibilities

• Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
• Shifts scheduled in either three or six consecutive shift blocks based on department needs.
• Supports Adult Critical Care, Emergency Department, Pediatric Critical Care, and Pediatrics units.
• Utilizes Meditech charting system.
• Holiday coverage required.
• Provide respiratory care across adult, pediatric, and neonatal critical care populations.
• Perform pulmonary hygiene, tracheostomy care, and chest physiotherapy.
• Assist with patient transport including inter-departmental and ambulance transport.
• Manage high-pressure ventilator alarms and wean patients from mechanical ventilation.
• Care for infants and children with respiratory distress syndrome, RSV, and transient tachypnea of the newborn.
• Candidates must live outside a 100-mile radius of the facility to be considered.
• Local candidates are not accepted.
• Travel pairs are accepted.
• Former permanent employees must wait 12 months before returning as travelers.
• Requested time off should be kept to a minimum at time of consideration.
