Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position in Indiana. The role requires 18+ months ICU experience and NBRC RRT certification, with travel across affiliate hospitals within the health system.

The candidate must hold Indiana or compact licensure, ACLS/BLS with PALS preferred, and be comfortable with ventilator management and arterial blood gas interpretation. Cerner charting is used; holidays are required.

Qualifications

  • NBRC RRT certification required.
  • Indiana state license or compact license required if applicable.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required; PALS preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with 18 months of recent ICU experience.
  • Education must be accredited through CoARC and CHEA
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred.
  • Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation.
  • Skilled in arterial blood gas draws and interpretation.
  • Proficient in airway management including intubation/extubation assist and suctioning.
  • Experience with oxygen therapy including HFNC.
  • 2 supervisor references required.
  • Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Hospital-based Respiratory Therapy/Neuro Diagnostics unit
  • Adult critical care and emergency department patient population
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
  • Every other weekend required
  • Required to float between multiple affiliate hospitals within the health system
  • Cerner charting system used
  • Provide respiratory care to adult critical care and emergency department patients
  • Perform medication delivery via aerosol setup, nebulizers, and metered dose inhalers
  • Administer medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, and Xopenex
  • Collect sputum specimens and provide tracheostomy care/management
  • First-time travelers will be considered
  • Indiana residents are considered local candidates but are not accepted for this unit
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
  • Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a break to reset eligibility (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents)
