Preferred Qualifications
Responsibilities
- Evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans; explaining treatments, tests, and equipment to patients and providing necessary education upon discharge.
- Performing routine ventilatory treatments using invasive and non‑invasive ventilatory equipment and oxygen/aerosol devices; providing chest physiotherapy; performing suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal).
- Conducting oximetry and capnography monitoring; reviewing chest x‑rays to support further evaluation needs.
- Performing 12‑Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition; performing pulmonary function studies as applicable.
- Assisting with respiratory care procedures as prescribed (including bronchoscopy and related respiratory interventions); performing chest drainage via PleurX catheter or similar device where applicable.
- Performing tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes (emergent and non‑emergent); performing arterial puncture per policy.
- Recording and documenting respiratory care treatment information and patient response according to policy; communicating with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency; completing shift‑to‑shift handoff communication during walking rounds.
- Maintaining accurate respiratory therapy charging including data entry, verification, and correction of errors.
- Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) guidelines.

Compensation
