Job summary

HealthForce Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse for Labor and Delivery in Bakersfield, CA. This 13-week travel assignment includes 36 guaranteed hours per week in a hospital setting, with night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

Strong EPIC experience is preferred and CA RN licensure is required. Responsibilities include direct obstetric care, fetal monitoring, medication administration, and discharge planning.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (L&D) in Bakersfield, California. Start date: November 16, 2026. This is a 13-week travel assignment in a hospital setting. Weekly pay ranges from $2,620 to $2,846, with guaranteed 36 hours per week. Shift: night shift, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, 3x12-hour nights. This opening requires current RN licensure in the state of practice and acute care bedside nursing expertise.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct, coordinated nursing care for obstetric patients and their families according to established standards and the nursing process
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, administer medications, and assist during labor, delivery, and postpartum care
• Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff to coordinate comprehensive patient care
• Supervise and direct activities of various nursing staff levels, ensuring safe, efficient care delivery
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, including discharge planning and patient education for families
• Document care accurately in the medical record, uphold safety, infection control, and quality standards

Requirements

• Active RN license in the state of practice (California required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience
• BLS certification (CPR) required; ACLS or ARC-ALS certification required
• Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) competency required
• AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS certification required; NRP or ARC-NALS required
• EPIC experience highly preferred
• BSN preferred; education to reflect Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Ability to work night shifts and to float to other units as needed
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and collaborative teamwork skills
