Job summary

SMS group Inc. seeks a highly skilled NDT Inspector/Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to perform welding inspections and quality assurance at customer sites and fabrication facilities.

Extensive regional travel, with overnight trips, is required, and a company-provided vehicle is supplied. The candidate will ensure compliance with codes, standards, and customer specs while representing the company professionally.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of welding inspection and NDT experience required.
• AWS CWI certification preferred; Level II in one or more NDT methods is ideal.
• Must be able to travel 75–90% of the time, including overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform NDT inspections using VT, MT, PT, UT, and RT (preferred).
• Conduct welding inspections per AWS, ASME, API, and customer specs.
• Travel to customer locations, fabrication shops, and field sites to perform inspections and QA activities.
• Safely operate a company-provided vehicle while traveling to sites.
• Interpret WPS, PQR, and WPQ records; review drawings and ITPs.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain records; identify defects and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality policies, and customer requirements; coordinate with stakeholders.
