Job summary

Timmons Group in Plano, Texas is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to assist Land Surveyors and Party Chiefs by performing field data collection and applying surveying principles. The role requires willingness to travel, be able to carry up to 50 lb of equipment, work outdoors year-round, and maintain instruments.

You'll operate total station, GPS, level, and data collectors under supervision in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of survey experience or equivalent training.
• Understanding of standard survey procedures and instruments.
• Must be willing to travel extensively.
• Must be able to carry up to 50 lb of equipment.
• Outdoor year-round work with potential extreme conditions.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Field Crew operations to provide field data for boundary surveys, topographical and construction stakeout surveys.
• Learn to operate total station, level, GPS and data collectors for use in the collection field of survey data.
• Under the guidance of a Party Chief, work on construction stakeout projects (curb and gutter, drop inlets, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, waterline, structures).
• Maintain instruments through daily upkeep and calibration as needed.
• Provide clear and concise field notes including sketches.
• Work effectively in a team environment.
