Job summary

Uniti is seeking a Buried Drop Technician to perform the physical installation of buried copper, fiber, and coaxial cable from the network hub to customers’ residences. The role requires travel overnight, including out-of-state travel, based on business needs.

You will join our Buried Drop team, apply technical skills and a strong customer focus, and operate within safety standards. This is a safety sensitive position and follows a union bidding process.

Qualifications

• Ability to walk 1/2 mile+ with a drop plow.
• Willingness to travel overnight, including out-of-state travel.
• Must pass pre-employment DOT physical.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to distinguish colors present in color-coded cable.

Responsibilities

• Perform the physical installation of buried copper, fiber & coaxial drop cable to connect network to residences.
• Use technical expertise to create meaningful connections with customers.
• Interpret work drawings and instructions and complete necessary paperwork.
• Sell and promote Kinetic products and services.
• Train new employees on daily job functions.
• Operate handheld computer for retrieving and clearing job tasks.
• Perform locates on underground facilities, as applicable, during job tasks.
• Operate trenching and boring equipment for burying cable.
• All other tasks as assigned.
