Job summary

Newsandtribune is seeking a Radiation Therapist for our hospital radiation oncology department in Charleston, SC. The role requires ARRT (T) certification, active SC compact license if applicable, BLS through AHA, and at least one year of relevant experience.

You will perform external beam and radioactive treatments, assist with simulations, and maintain EMR records using Cerner, with a 40-hour M-F schedule and possible travel to sister locations.

Qualifications

  • Active SC or compact Radiation Therapist license required, if applicable.
  • ARRT Radiation Therapy (T) certification required.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant radiation therapy experience, internships as part of clinical education may count.
  • High School Diploma/GED and AMA-approved radiation therapy training required.
  • Proficiency in dose calculations and equipment operation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform dexterous tasks.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Responsibilities

  • Hospital-based Radiation Oncology department.
  • M-F day shift, 40 hours/week with flexible start/end times 7am-6pm.
  • No fixed daily shift; scheduling varies by patient and department needs.
  • Occasional weekend/holiday coverage may be needed.
  • May float to sister hospital locations as needed.
  • Use Cerner for electronic medical records.
  • Deliver prescribed external beam and radioactive element treatments under direction of Radiation Oncologist.
  • Perform clinical simulations on treatment machines and CT simulators.

Job description

American Traveler seeks a Radiation Therapist with ARRT (T) certification and at least one year of experience for a hospital radiation oncology department.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in dose calculations and equipment operation
  • Ability to lift, move, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, and use of finger/hand dexterity required
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours
Responsibilities
  • Hospital-based Radiation Oncology department
  • M-F day shift schedule, 40 hours per week, with flexible daily start/end times between 7am-6pm

  • No call requirement, though weekend/holiday coverage may occasionally be needed based on department needs
  • May float or rotate to sister hospital locations as needed
  • Uses Cerner for electronic medical records
  • Deliver prescribed external beam and radioactive element treatments under direction of a Radiation Oncologist
  • Perform clinical simulations on treatment machines and CT simulators
  • Fabricate custom immobilization devices, blocks, and molds for patient treatments
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records including dose totals and treatment aids used
  • Explain procedures to patients, address concerns, and ensure comfort during treatment
  • Work occurs across simulator, dark room, treatment, and exam rooms, with occasional need to support operating room or nursing unit procedures
  • Exposure to radiation, blood, bodily fluids, and other common healthcare environment hazards
  • Professional and neat appearance required
  • Travelers may remain on assignment up to one year from initial start date, with a required break before starting a new assignment
  • Radius rule of 50 miles applies; local candidates within this radius are not eligible
  • First-time travelers may be considered with appropriate experience
