American Traveler is seeking an Outpatient Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) with a Michigan license and 1+ year of PTA experience to provide patient care under a Physical Therapist's direction within an outpatient Rehabilitation Services department.

Position offers a 40-hour work week, day shifts, and opportunities to cross-train and cover other departments as needed. Travel-ready with floating coverage and RTO policies apply.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan PTA license required.
• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds regularly.
• Must assist in lifting and moving patients and tolerate fatiguing positions.
• Proof of flu vaccination or exemption request within 48 hours of signing.
• Supervisor-level references required.

Responsibilities

• Outpatient PT setting within Rehabilitation Services.
• Day shift 0700-1815 Mon-Thu and 0700-1645 Fri.
• 40 hours per week with no on-call, weekends, or float.
• Cross-train to cover other Rehab Services as needed.
• Deliver direct patient care under a licensed Physical Therapist, including various treatments.
• Lead individual and group therapy activities and educate families as part of the plan of care.
• Document in the electronic health record per compliance timelines.

Responsibilities

• Outpatient Physical Therapy Assistant setting within a Rehabilitation Services department
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, working 0700-1815 Monday through Thursday and 0700-1645 on Friday
• 40 hours per week with no call, weekend, or float requirements
• May cross train and provide coverage at other departments within Rehabilitation Services as needed
• Work under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver direct patient care including physical, electrical, mechanical, and heat treatments
• Lead individual and group therapy activities, instructing patients in skills needed to participate successfully
• Provide family and community education as part of the plan of care
• Participate in interdisciplinary team discussions, hospital rounds, and program development
• Serve as a resource person and provide in-services within areas of expertise
• Supervise Rehab Clinical Assistants, PTA students, and volunteers
• Document in the electronic health record per compliance timelines and maintain accurate, complete records
• Participate in committees, task forces, and process improvement initiatives
• Accepts local candidates at the same rate with no radius restrictions
• Travelers are expected to float first when coverage is needed
• Previous internal travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
• RTO limited to no more than 10 days
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
