Job summary

Trilab Health is seeking a motivated and experienced Phlebotomy Trainer to support onboarding, development, and ongoing competency of our phlebotomy team across multiple client locations. This role trains new and existing phlebotomists, ensuring adherence to Trilab Health's standards and helping maintain exceptional client service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; healthcare education preferred.
• 5-6 years of phlebotomy experience; experience training or mentoring preferred.
• National Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques, specimen handling, and laboratory best practices.
• Excellent communication and coaching abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hands-on onboarding and training for new phlebotomists at client sites.
• Assess employee competency and provide coaching to ensure compliance with procedures and best practices.
• Train staff on specimen collection, labeling, handling, documentation, infection control, and safety protocols.
• Ensure training aligns with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and company policies.
• Learn and adapt to each client's workflows and requirements.
• Serve as primary training resource for new site launches and coverage at client locations.
• Travel throughout the Greater Chicago area and to Central Illinois to provide onsite training and support.
• Conduct follow-up evaluations and refresher training to maintain quality standards.
• Collaborate with Operations, HR, and Laboratory leadership to identify training needs.
• Assist with developing and updating training materials, SOPs, and competency checklists.
• Monitor trainee progress and provide feedback to leadership.
• Maintain training documentation and competency records.
• Provide occasional phlebotomy coverage at client sites during staffing shortages.
