Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Detroit seeks a full-time Phlebotomist-Float to join our essential laboratory team. You will travel to client sites in the Detroit metro area, Lansing, and Grand Rapids, performing phlebotomy and related specimen processing.

The role requires Monday–Friday 8:30am–5pm with two weekends per month; the base hourly rate includes float differential. You will contribute to patient care, safety standards, and reliable lab operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or training or 1+ year phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards.
• Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care.
• Identifies need for patient medical assistance and call code as appropriate.
• Reviews/Records refrigerator temperature(s) and QC/QA records.
• Label and process specimens according to established protocols and policies.
• Must effectively procure blood specimens from infant, adult, geriatric, and wheelchair bound patients.
• Follows up with all outstanding orders and communicates results to staff.
