Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Detroit is seeking a Client Office Phlebotomist-Float to join our Laboratory Services team. This full-time role covers phlebotomy across client sites in the Detroit metro area, with a 40-hour work week and a Monday–Friday schedule plus two weekends per month.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or training from a phlebotomy school or healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards.
• Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care.
• Identifies need for patient medical assistance and calls codes as appropriate.
• Reviews refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA records and reports issues.
• Label and process specimens according to established protocols.
• Procure blood specimens from infant, adult, geriatric and wheelchair-bound patients.
• Maintain competency for age-related responsibilities.
• Communicate results and updates to client office staff and physicians as needed.
• Follow safety goals and observe patient identifiers policies.
• Travel to client sites within Detroit metro area, Lansing and Grand Rapids.
