Job summary

Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics is seeking a skilled Registered Dental Assistant to join our fast-growing practice. You will deliver chairside support across general dentistry, orthodontics, endodontics, and other specialties, while maintaining strict safety and infection control standards in a dynamic environment.

Ideal candidates hold an active TX RDA license, CPR certification, and proficiency with Open Dental or Dentrix.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Active RDA license with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Nitrous oxide monitoring certification preferred.
• Maintain OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training.
• Dental practice management software experience helpful.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Make patient safety and team safety the top priority.
• Adhere to OSHA and Infection Control protocols.
• Maintain and update digital patient information.
• Prepare tray setups per doctor preferences and procedures.
• Keep exam rooms clean, disinfected, organized, and stocked.
• Educate patients and parents on oral health benefits.
• Monitor patient well-being during visits.
• Review patient charts prior to doctor arrival.
• Take diagnostic quality X-Rays and attach to charts.
• Assist team with office cleanliness and IC protocol.
• Complete daily assignments and monitor vital signs.
• Suction, cut sutures, and retractors as needed.
• Mix amalgam/cement/pulp paste and prepare impression materials.
• Pour, trim, and polish impression trays.
• Assist with bonding, banding, adjusting, debonding orthodontic patients.
• Place and cement bands; set up orthodontic brackets.
• Make retainers, bleaching trays, and impressions.
• Maintain crash cart equipment and supplies.
• Work with orally sedated patients in office/hospital settings.
• Provide excellent chairside assistance and anticipate next steps.
• Ensure patient/parent understands post-op instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must maintain an active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) License registered with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE)
• Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) preferred
• Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide
• Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training
• Dental practice management software (Open Dental/Dentrix) experience helpful
• Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Making Patient Safety and Team Safety the number one priority
• Adhering to OSHA and Infection Control Protocols
• Maintaining and upkeeping digital patient information
• Preparing tray set-ups according to doctor preferences and planned procedures
• Keep exam rooms clean, disinfected, organized, and stocked according to the required standards at the beginning and end of each treatment
• Educating patients and parents on the benefits of good oral health
• Monitoring the patient's physical and emotional well-being during the entire visit
• Reviewing the patient chart and health history prior to the doctor arrival and reconfirming the patient's chief concern
• Taking diagnostic quality X-Rays and attaching them to the patient chart
• Helping the Rodeo Team maintain office cleanliness and IC protocol
• Completing daily assignments
• Monitoring and recording patient vital signs
• Suctioning, cutting sutures, and holding retractors
• Mixing amalgam, cement, and pulp paste and preparing impression materials
• Pouring, trimming, and polishing impression trays
• Assisting with bonding, banding, adjusting, and debonding orthodontic patients
• Placing and cementing bands
• Setting up orthodontic brackets and removing excess cement from brackets and bands
• Making retainers, bleaching trays, and impressions
• Maintaining crash cart equipment and supplies
• Working with oral and IV sedated patients in office and hospital settings
• Providing excellent chairside assistance and anticipating next steps to stay in constant mental synchronization with the doctor
• Ensuring the patient and parent comprehends the post-op instructions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged sitting and standing as needed
• Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
