Job summary

Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics is seeking a licensed Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to support doctors across multiple specialties in clinic settings. You will perform chairside assistance, x-rays, and patient education while maintaining safety and infection control standards.

Ideal candidates will have an active RDA license, CPR certification preferred, and willingness to travel between Rodeo locations. Experience with Open Dental or Dentrix is helpful, with bilingual Spanish being a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Active RDA license (TSBDE).
• CPR certification preferred.
• Nitrous oxide monitoring certification.
• Annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training.
• Experience with Open Dental or Dentrix is helpful.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize patient safety for staff and patients.
• Adhere to OSHA and infection control protocols.
• Maintain and update digital patient information.
• Prepare tray setups per doctor preferences.
• Keep exam rooms clean, disinfected, organized, and stocked.
• Educate patients and parents on oral health.
• Monitor patient well-being during visits.
• Review patient chart and health history before the doctor arrives.
• Take diagnostic X-Rays and attach to the chart.
• Assist with bonding and braces-related procedures.
• Maintain office cleanliness and infection control protocols.
• Complete daily assignments.
• Monitor and record patient vital signs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must maintain an active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) License registered with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE)
• Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) preferred
• Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide
• Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training
• Dental practice management software (Open Dental/Dentrix) experience helpful
• Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred
• Ability to travel

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Making Patient Safety and Team Safety the number one priority
• Adhering to OSHA and Infection Control Protocols
• Maintaining and upkeeping digital patient information
• Preparing tray set-ups according to doctor preferences and planned procedures
• Keep exam rooms clean, disinfected, organized, and stocked according to the required standards at the beginning and end of each treatment
• Educating patients and parents on the benefits of good oral health
• Monitoring the patient's physical and emotional well-being during the entire visit
• Reviewing the patient chart and health history prior to the doctor arrival and reconfirming the patient's chief concern
• Taking diagnostic quality X-Rays and attaching them to the patient chart
• Helping the Rodeo Team maintain office cleanliness and IC protocol
• Completing daily assignments
• Monitoring and recording patient vital signs
• Suctioning, cutting sutures, and holding retractors
• Mixing amalgam, cement, and pulp paste and preparing impression materials
• Pouring, trimming, and polishing impression trays
• Assisting with bonding, banding, adjusting, and debonding orthodontic patients
• Placing and cementing bands
• Setting up orthodontic brackets and removing excess cement from brackets and bands
• Making retainers, bleaching trays, and impressions
• Maintaining crash cart equipment and supplies
• Working with oral and IV sedated patients in office and hospital settings
• Providing excellent chairside assistance and anticipating next steps to stay in constant mental synchronization with the doctor
• Ensuring the patient and parent comprehends the post-op instructions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged sitting and standing as needed
• Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
