Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's OB/GYN team is seeking a Medical Assistant for a full-time role based primarily in Roxbury, MA, with travel across the region. You will support patient flow, prepare exam rooms, and assist clinicians with care coordination.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency certificate or Medical Assistant Certification.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• 3+ years of experience in a clinical setting.
• 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Computer experience with word processing and spreadsheets; EMR experience to master EMR.
• Demonstrated knowledge of reagent stability and storage.
• Demonstrated knowledge of testing procedures and factors influencing results.

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize appointment availability.
• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.
• Prepare patient for examination; measures vital signs.
• Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and tests.
• Ensures EMR is updated with medical information and demographics.
• Keeps patients informed of visit status and delays.
• Reconcile medications and refills; discontinue inactive prescriptions.
• Resolve minor patient concerns as appropriate.
• Order and perform point-of-care waived testing (e.g., strep, urine, hCG, glucose).
