Job summary

Alliance Services, Inc. seeks a travel RN for the CVICU in Madison, Wisconsin. This 13-week assignment features 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week, and required travel experience. The Magnet-designated facility handles high-acuity cardiac cases with a diverse care team.

Candidate must have CVICU experience, active WI or compact RN license, ACLS/BLS, and proficiency with Epic, NxStage CVVH, and complex hemodynamics. A $250 contract completion bonus applies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of acute CVICU experience within the last 3 years.
• Experience with NxStage CVVH, CRRT, IABP/Impella/HM3 ECMO preferred.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required; WI or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) in CVICU.
• Maintain 1–2 patients per nurse, up to 3 with lower acuity.
• Float as needed and complete telemetry exams with ≥80% score.
• Identify lethal rhythms with 100% accuracy; manage arterial/central lines.
• Operate Epic charting and monitor advanced cardiac devices.

Opportunity:

RN - CVICU

Job Details:

• Night shift position working 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required with some holidays
• No on-call responsibilities
• Patient ratio of 1-2 patients per nurse, with possibility of up to 3 general care patients when acuity is low
• Travelers are required to float as needed
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in CVICU specialty within the last 3 years required
• Travel experience required
• CVICU experience required
• Experience and knowledge of NxStage CVVH machine required
• Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
• Experience with CRRT (NxStage), IABP, Impella, HM3 LVAD, ECMO, and Zoll Thermoguard required
• Charting system experience with Epic required
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher
• Must achieve 100% identification of lethal rhythms including ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and asystole
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, WI or compact RN license
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including CABG, valve repair/replacement, aneurysm repair, aortic dissection repair, LVAD, heart transplant, lung transplant, thoracic surgery, STEMI, NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, heart failure, and arrhythmia management
• Proficiency in arterial line management, central line care, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, epicardial pacing wire care, ventilator management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips required

The CVICU is a dynamic 27-bed unit with private rooms, each capable of ICU-level care, specializing in cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac medical patients. The nursing team is supported by charge RNs, rapid response nurses, nursing assistants, and a broad interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and more.
