Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, seeks a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nursing staff across Irving clinics. You will organize the clinical environment, assist with exams, collect specimens, perform EKGs, and ensure patient care documentation.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, MA certification (within 180 days), current BLS, basic computer skills, and willingness to travel throughout the DFW North Team 3 area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers.
• Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties within the scope of Medical Assistant practice (diagnostic equipment use, venipuncture, wound care, ECGs, specimen collection).
• Rooms patients and prepares them for examination.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by providers and policies.
• Maintains infection control, privacy, and confidentiality.
