Layton Construction in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Project Manager to lead the planning, management and execution of data center construction projects. The role emphasizes profitability, quality and safety to meet owner expectations.

You will organize pre-construction activities, guide the PMP, manage budgets, schedules, and procurement, and coordinate subcontractors while maintaining documentation and client pay requests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field, or the equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum of four or more years project management experience within Data Center Construction.
• Has a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
• Has an in-depth knowledge of commercial construction processes.
• Understands estimating concepts to verify bids, market rates, and change orders.
• Understands contractual language and protects the company while delivering quality service.
• Knows building codes and other design requirements as needed for the project.
• Reads and understands plans, blueprints, and specifications.
• Professional ethics, self-starter, and ability to work independently.
• Strong negotiation & interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation of estimates for the project.
• Prepares project budgets and unit cost reports.
• Leads the project team in preparing the PMP.
• Organizes pre-award and pre-construction meetings.
• Negotiates subcontracts and manages change orders.
• Obtains permits and resolves regulatory requirements as necessary.
• Prepares a project schedule and milestones with the project superintendent.
• Develops and monitors project quality, safety and risk management plans.
• Monitors site cost, safety, quality and schedule performance with the project superintendent.
• Develops monthly client pay requests and follows up on collection.
• Coordinates all final close out procedures and as-builts.
