Job summary

Pike Electric, Inc. is hiring a Substation Ground Technician. This entry-level, non-exempt role involves construction, maintenance, and repair of substation equipment, with travel to Florida and other states as required by customer demand.

The position requires working in confined spaces and at heights, lifting heavy loads, and operating various heavy equipment. A CDL within 6 months and personal PPE are needed to succeed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform rigorous physical labor.
• Capable of climbing and working at heights up to 125 feet.
• Must possess or obtain a Commercial Drivers’ License within 6 months.
• Must supply own hand tools required by the company.
• Must supply own safety-toed work boots.
• Must be capable of lifting in excess of 50 lbs.
• Capable of working in confined spaces/areas.
• Capable of operating various heavy equipment: Bucket, derrick and boom trucks; Backhoes, excavators and skid steer loaders; Articulating man-lifts; Pressure diggers; Trenchers; Track crawler loaders; Rough terrain telehandlers.
• Willing to work overtime or long hours during emergencies and/or when requested.
• 90% Travel Required

Responsibilities

• Works safely while constructing, maintaining or repairing substation equipment and systems.
• Maintains company vehicles, test equipment and tools in good condition.
• Regularly works with energized high voltage systems with safety precautions.
