Job summary

Summit Fire & Security in Roanoke, VA seeks a Fire Suppression Technician to install, inspect, service, and repair fire extinguishers, emergency exit lights, and pre-engineered suppression systems with related detection and control systems. This role requires adherence to NFPA codes and safety protocols.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, relevant fire life safety experience, and the ability to travel up to 90%.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• State or any required certification, preferred.
• 2 Fire Life Safety Industry experience specifically within Fire Suppression.
• 2 years of professional computer skills.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
• Must be able to travel 90% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Use required tools and test equipment to repair or replace fire extinguishers, pre-engineered systems, and Detection & Control systems components.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of NFPA codes, standards, and systems.
• Troubleshoot and identify defective components of pre-engineered suppression systems.
• Repair or replace damaged components of suppression systems as well as fire extinguishers and Detection & Control systems.
• Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
• Be punctual to required work locations and complete schedules on time.
• Use Field Service Lightning to track work orders, materials, time on job, etc.
• Complete documentation on work orders.
• Follow safety programs, SDS, Hazardous communication, and company policies; attend toolbox talks.
• Ensure company vehicle is clean and well maintained.
• Attend seminars or training to stay updated on technology, codes, and standards.
