Job summary

Astec in Detroit seeks a Field Service Technician to install, commission startup, train customer staff, troubleshoot and repair designated equipment. You will work with engineering to resolve issues for maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The role requires 0-2 years in related fields, strong electrical/mechanical knowledge, blueprint reading, welding ability, and willingness to travel extensively both domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required or equivalent
• 0-2 years experience in construction/manufacturing preferred
• Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical blueprints
• Knowledge of electrical/electronic circuits and power transmission equipment
• Welding capability (MIG/stick) and fabrication skills beneficial
• Willingness to travel extensively domestically and internationally
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Proficient in Windows/Microsoft Office and related software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Perform installation under supervision and gradually take on more complex tasks
• Maintain positive, professional attitude with customers
• Ensure proper startup, operation and calibration of electrical, electronic and mechanical systems
• Train customer employees on startup, troubleshooting and maintenance
• Create and submit field service reports for daily activities
• Coordinate with sales/engineer/manufacturing on issues and warranty
• Be available for emergency dispatch, 7 days a week
• Maintain accurate service reports and assist with billing

Education

High school diploma or GED

0-2 years experience in construction/manufacturing

Reading blueprints and schematics

Electrical/electronic circuit knowledge

Welding (MIG/stick)

Travel willingness (domestic & international)

Strong communication skills

Computer skills (Windows, MS Office)
