Job summary

Astec is seeking a Field Service Technician to ensure proper installation and operation of designated Astec products including installation, commissioning startup, training, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.

Technicians will consult with engineering to analyze and remedy problems and to train the customer employees in proper maintenance and operational tasks for maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; experience a plus.
• 0-2 years’ experience in construction, manufacturing, or related fields.
• Preferred 0-2 years in the HMA, concrete, or combustion industries.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and designs.
• Knowledge of circuitry, pneumatic, hydraulic and power transmission
• Welding ability with stick and MIG processes; fabrication knowledge.
• Willingness to travel extensively domestically and internationally.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; basic arithmetic.
• Able to work independently or in small groups.

Responsibilities

• Install designated Astec products under supervision.
• Startup, commissioning, training, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
• Consult with engineering to analyze problems and remedy issues.
• Train customer personnel in maintenance and operation tasks.
• Generate field service reports for daily activities.
• Coordinate with sales, engineering, and manufacturing on issues.
• Ensure accurate service reports and related billing.
• Be available for emergency dispatch; 24/7 coverage.
