Job summary

FiberTel, LLC is seeking a Travel Fiber Splicer for its Sacramento market. The role involves installing and repairing fiber optics, splicing, operating splicing equipment, and providing on-the-job training to a Splicing Laborer. Flexibility for night and weekend work is required.

Pay ranges from $26 to $34 per hour plus daily per diem and company benefits. The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of fiber splicing experience, a valid driver’s license, ability to pass drug screen, and the stamina to

Qualifications

• Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Valid driver’s license or willingness to obtain.
• Good driving record.
• Able to operate various utility trucks and equipment safely.
• Able to use hand tools safely.
• CDL is a plus; higher wages for CDL holders.
• Able to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
• Able to work in all weather conditions.
• Capable of lifting 50 lbs and up to 100 lbs.
• Knowledge of fiber optic color code and numbers.
• Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
• Experience with fiber splicing and related steps.
• 2-3 years of fiber splicing experience.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair fiber optics.
• Assist in fiber optic splicing.
• Set up safety perimeter with signage, cones, barriers.
• Flag traffic when required.
• Work at multiple locations.
• Prepare splice locations and termination points.
• Maintain and secure assigned vehicle and equipment.
• Splice loose tube fiber.
• Drive bucket truck.
• Operate splicing equipment.
• Identify fiber issues with a red light.
• Construct splice cases.
• Submit daily time cards.
• Place a mid-sheath splice.
• Fill out audit sheets per splice.
• Test fiber with OTDR.
• Follow safety rules.
• Update job completion sheet.
• Pull fiber when needed.
• Complete cut sheet.
• Pre-trip vehicle inspection daily.
• Ability to work at night / various hours.
