Job summary

FiberTel, LLC in San Jose, CA is seeking a Fiber Splicer to install, splice, test and maintain fiber networks in aerial and underground outside plant environments. The position may require on-call hours, overtime, night work, and weekends to support project schedules and customer service.

Pay ranges from $28 to $40 per hour, DOE; full-time hourly with benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan with company match, paid holidays and vacation.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years’ experience splicing fiber.
• Class A CDL is a plus (higher wage scales apply to CDL holders).
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Valid driver’s license or willingness to obtain one.
• Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed.
• Able to work nights, weekends and varied hours.
• Knowledge of fiber optic color code and numbers.
• Experience splicing fiber including all necessary steps.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair fiber optics.
• Assist in fiber optic splicing.
• Set up safety perimeter with signage and barriers.
• Flag traffic when required.
• Prepare splice locations and termination points.
• Test and troubleshoot fiber using OTDR.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Submit daily time cards for crew members.
