Amerit Fleet Solutions in Chicago, IL is seeking a Travel Diesel Technician/Mechanic to service a nationwide fleet. The role involves 100% travel, safety-conscious maintenance, and timely repairs on medium to heavy duty diesel and gas vehicles.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventive maintenance, document work orders, and work closely with fleet managers. Travel may be scheduled on short notice and weekends.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ hands-on experience performing diesel and gas vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to own and maintain the personal tools and toolbox required for the role.
• Willingness to meet the DOT physical if required for the role.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on medium to heavy duty fleet vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
• Conduct inspections to ensure safety and compliance standards.
• Accurately document repairs and complete work orders.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools and equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to support fleet operations.
• Non travel weeks will be spent building Mobile Service Center trucks and completing other projects.
• Working closely with Fleet Managers and Senior Fleet Managers.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Up to 100% travel time.
