Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a CVOR travel nurse in Phoenix, AZ for a 13-week assignment. The role is 40 hours per week, with 8-hour day shifts, in the Cardiovascular Operating Room. The RN should have 1-2 years of recent acute care experience and BLS/ACLS certified, with additional certifications possibly required before starting.

Travel experience preferred and benefits accompany the assignment. The CVOR RN will circulate for cardiothoracic surgeries, coordinate OR activities, maintain sterility,

Qualifications

• 1-2 years recent acute care experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and evaluate the nursing care needs of the patient before, during and after a surgical procedure.
• Participate in the care of patients receiving conscious sedation.
• Administer prescribed medications, apply dressings, monitor vital signs.
• Assist physician during procedures.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and actively monitor situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
• Coordinate the operating room with respect to sterility, cleanliness, availability of functioning equipment and supplies.
• Ensure the proper handling of specimens.
